I am on the Board of the South Brevard Coin Club in Melbourne, Florida and It has come to our attention that someone dear to us is in desperate need of financial assistance.

This is Gerry Schmitz, he is an 80-year-old Navy veteran on the verge of losing his home, his car, and the few possessions he still has. He lost his home and everything he owned in a hurricane a few years ago and has been trying to rebuild his life ever since. But as we all know, rebuilding is difficult after a certain age. But now, due to circumstances of health issues and age, it's been very difficult for him to get back on his feet.

He's been a long-time member of the South Brevard Coin Club as he has been a numismatic enthusiast his whole life. He has devoted years of time and energy volunteering with the Club, helping people where he can. He has such a good heart and always has a pleasant attitude and doesn’t complain. That is why we were not aware of how dire his situation has become.

We are asking for contributions to help get him back on his feet so he does not lose his home and the animals he loves and takes care of. On top of everything else, his car recently broke down, which was his only means to earn any sort of income from selling at weekend markets. Any assistance would be truly appreciated, so let's help Gerry get back on his feet!
