Gerry Leary is the founder of The Unseen Bean Inc. and has been roasting coffee in Boulder, CO since 2003. He is one of the only blind roasters in the country, and his coffee is dang good! Gerry was approached by an Italian couple who wanted to invest in a coffee company to obtain a business visa, and they began a partnership. Gerry has always valued community and sharing his love of coffee and roasting. The partners approached the business as a hobby and did not build or nurture Gerry's community. After 5 years, the business was not properly advertised for and had little sales. Gerry broke his hip this year and was unable to work for 3 months. After recovering, he was told he could no longer work for the company. Despite this hardship, Gerry is determined to start roasting coffee again. These donations will fund the purchase of a roaster, bag sealer, scale, grinder, coffee, bagging and shipping supplies, website management, and assistance from a sighted person to perform shipping functions.
