Support German's journey to recovery after lung transplant

German Fuentes, a father and grandfather, who just underwent one of the most complicated surgeries to exist. After working 20 years for a recycling company, both of German’s lungs were severely damaged after daily inhalation of the dangerous chemicals present at work. After a short year of my father’s lung health rapidly declining, he was finally blessed with a double lung transplant. My father’s lungs began to decline in July 2023 up until November, where he ultimately needed oxygen support 24/7 and was left unable to work, walk, and breathe.

Ever since my dad arrived to the United States from Guatemala, he has been working hard to provide a good life for his family and himself. Unfortunately, this health emergency has caused him to lose his consistent income, home and needs extensive support from his family and healthcare workers during this difficult journey. My father is in need of your support to get back on his feet and live a normal life again. His ultimate goal is to get back to working again and being able to live independently. Germán Fuentes, padre y abuelo, quien acaba de someterse a una de las cirugías más complicadas que existen. Después de trabajar 20 años para una empresa de reciclaje, ambos pulmones de German sufrieron graves daños tras la inhalación diaria de los peligrosos químicos presentes en el trabajo. Después de un breve año en el que la salud pulmonar de mi padre empeoró rápidamente, finalmente fue bendecido con un doble trasplante de pulmón. Los pulmones de mi padre comenzaron a deteriorarse en julio de 2023 hasta noviembre, cuando finalmente necesitó oxígeno las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana y se quedó sin poder trabajar, caminar ni respirar.

Desde que mi papá llegó a los Estados Unidos desde Guatemala, ha estado trabajando duro para brindar una buena vida a su familia y a él mismo. Desafortunadamente, esta emergencia de salud le ha hecho perder sus ingresos constantes y su hogar, y necesita un gran apoyo de su familia y trabajadores de la salud durante este difícil viaje. Mi padre necesita su apoyo para recuperarse y vivir una vida normal nuevamente. Su objetivo final es volver a trabajar y poder vivir de forma independiente.
