This GoFundMe is for my wonderful neighbor, Gerline Morris. She is one of the most honest, gracious, and faithful followers of Jesus Christ that I have had the pleasure of knowing.
She’s 49, born 4/27/76, and has been married to her husband, Keith Morris, for 18 years.
In 2021, she had breast cancer and had the tumors removed along with her lymph nodes on her left side.
A couple of months ago, she started having pain in her back and leg and thought it was a sciatic nerve. Keith told her that she could not work and went to the doctor to do tests. On Sept 3, they discovered that the cancer had come back with a vengeance and spread to her bones. A PET scan discovered it was in her back and leg and had lesions that caused her back, leg, and hip to be brittle. First Health in Pinehurst could not give her an appointment with the oncologist for almost two months, which Keith said was totally unacceptable. She was in severe pain and could not get up out of bed or a chair without assistance. Keith made a phone call to Chapel Hill, took her, and they admitted her that day because they were worried that it would break. They performed surgery the next day to put pins and screws in it. She was in the hospital from Oct 7-19, then discharged and has to wait for it to heal. She has now started radiation treatment for 10 visits, followed by chemotherapy.
Gerline has been a faithful employee of Pinehurst Resort for 14 years, working in the Spa. With the inability to walk and severe pain from STAGE FOUR cancer, she has been unable to continue her employment. Gerline has been the primary breadwinner as her husband, Keith Morris, is disabled from the Army. They have one child, A.J., who is in his senior year of high school.
As you all know, medical costs are astronomical. Supporting a family, traveling back and forth from Jackson Springs to Chapel Hill, and everyday living has put an extreme burden on her, her son, and her husband. Some of you may know her husband, Keith Morris, as he had delivered The Pilot newspaper for years!
I ask that you please open up your hearts and give whatever amount you can to help Gerline and her struggling family. No amount is too small as every dime counts. I also ask for your prayers as they are most important. Christmas season is almost here, and it is a time for giving. Please consider letting this be a time of giving, peace, and love for this family!
As you can see from the pictures, there were fun times with her husband and son, and the one picture shows what cancer is doing to her ravaged body! Please open your hearts and give to this wonderful, godly couple in need!
