Dearest family, friends and community,
Our uncle Gerardo needs our help in such a difficult time. It all started a month ago when due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Gerardo, along with many others, was let go from his job in the restaurant industry. He is a loving husband and father of 5 year old Anthony and another angel on the way.
On April 2, 2020 he began experiencing extreme chest pain and fever. He feared for the worst and rushed himself to the hospital. After multiple tests, he fortunately tested negative for Covid-19, but was given worst news. He was diagnosed with advanced Multiple Myeloma, a white blood cell cancer. He was alone when the news was given and no one in our family was able to visit him and comfort him including his wife due to the no visitor policy being enforced due to Covid-19.
Due to his immigration status, he is unable to file for unemployment, receive a stimulus check or any type of benefit to support his expecting wife and 5 year old son. He has begun his weekly chemotherapy journey and unfortunately will not be able to work. We are hoping to raise enough funds to help them with medical expenses, rent, and groceries as he battles with cancer. Please keep our uncle in your prayers and we appreciate any help you may be able to provide during this difficult time. We thank you for your support and God bless you.
