Greetings and salutations. Hi. my name is Emily, I am Liam and Georgia's mom. Liam is Georgia's big brother.
I have come to bring you Georgia's little/big life story, and to reach out for your help. Georgia's story is not new to most, but might be to some. So I will try to start from the most beautiful, scary day she was born, way too early.
Georgia was due on December 13th 2023. I struggled on and off very early with afib and pre eclampsia. Many, many trips to my OB and the ER Georgia was born at 24 weeks and 1 day on August 24th 2023. She still lives at the hospital, and she never yet been able to come home and live with her family.
She weighed in at a whopping 1lb 2 oz. And was just as beautiful as she could be.
She was put on a ventilator, and a feeding tube in her nose, down to her little belly to nourish her. She lived in the little isolette for many months.
She was diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus.(PDA) An opening between two blood vessels leading to the heart. She did have surgery for that in October.
She was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in November. She was then administered nitric through a ventilator. She worked her way off of that nitric vent.

X rayed often were her lungs, as she has chronic lung disease which is another huge issue from prematurity. She was taken to surgery again in January to place a trach to give her an airway.

She was also given a CT often to check the state of her brain as babies as tiny as Georgia suffer brain bleeds. She did indeed end up having that issue, and continuing on, her little brain started to swell. She was subsequently taken to surgery after a time, and a shunt was placed in her head to drain the fluid that continuously builds up.
In October of 2024 she left the nicu, but not to go home. Unfortunately she came down with a terrible infection in her shunt. The neuro surgeon ordered her to be moved for surgery. She was transferred to Children's hospital to have the infected shunt removed, and a new one replaced after the infection was treated and gone. That took about six weeks.
She was transferred back to the hospital, but to the picu as clearly, she just wasn't a nicu baby any longer.
January 2025 we are still at the hospital. BUT, Georgia is doing very well. She is a feisty little fighter. She is 17 months old and weighs a little over 24 pounds. Our goal is to get to Rankin Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital. To attain that goal. Georgia has to be off of the hospital ventilator, and on a home ventilator continuously for two weeks. She is rocking the trials and has been going for 10 hours a day. We are all so proud of her. That is one step closer to home!
This is where my plight comes in.
Georgia is going to need 24 hour nursing care and therapy when she arrives home.
First need.
And it is everything! We need a house generator. Being without electric for Georgia is not a thing. It is life or death to her. And they are very costly. The price of the generator and the electrician to pull the permit and install it will be another great cost.
Second need.
The bottom floor of the house is partially finished. But not ideal for how it needs to be set up to accommodate Georgia, her crib, and all her equipment, her toys and clothes. It also does not have a bathroom. A wall is also going to have to be moved as well to make more space for the bathroom. As mentioned earlier, 24 hour nursing in our home is needed to care for her. And a bathroom will be an absolute must.
I work in Georgia's room at the hospital as much as I can but I also have Liam, Georgia's big brother to take care of. He is 12. My parents help me greatly with both of them but this is a huge undertaking and the stress can become overwhelming.
Which is my reason for reaching out for help.
If you have gotten this far, and you would like to help us get Georgia home finally. You know what to do. And prayer is always needed, and appreciated. Thanks so much for reading and if you can help, we thank you, and Georgia thanks you.
xxx ooo Love Emily
