Support George's Fight for a Safe Home

My name is George. I live at Quality Hill Towers in Kansas City, MO. My landlord, Sentinel Real Estate Corporation, is a New York City based slumlord. Their whole business model relies on maintenance cutbacks and predatory rent hikes.

I wish I never moved in here. My kitchen sink water comes out brown. My windows are broken and there is a cockroach infestation. My kids won’t come over because of the unsafe conditions. I feel like we’ve been robbed of a home.

Ten days after I moved in my car got stolen. I’m a case manager and have spent thousands of dollars paying for ubers so that I can keep my job, making it impossible to pay the rent.

My neighbors have been on rent strike, demanding safe and livable homes. Before the strike started, my landlord filed an eviction against me in an attempt to intimidate my neighbors.This is my home. I want to stay and continue organizing with my neighbors, but I need support catching up on rent. Thank you.
