Support Geoff's Remarkable Recovery Journey
Donation protected
We're a family living just outside Baltimore, MD, that has encountered a number of setbacks recently, most notably the near death of Geoff, the father and primary breadwinner for the family, from bacterial meningitis. Geoff struggled for over a year with recurring pneumonia that eventually spread to his brain and put him into a coma for over 2 months. The good news is: Geoff has recovered far better than initially expected. A doctor early on warned Theresa that Geoff would remain unconscious forever, but he is up, active, and recovering as we speak! (In fact, he is the primary author of this page you are reading.)
The bad news is: both Geoff and Theresa were out of work when this medical emergency happened. Geoff's company had been bought by private equity and Theresa's completely reorganized at about the same time. The local job market is kind of flooded right now with federal workers looking for new jobs, so it is a challenge, for sure. However, let's emphasize the positive: Geoff was told he'd never be able to work again, but his recovery has been far better than hoped, and we expect additional improvement, allowing Geoff to return to the job market soon.
We have been living off of retirement savings. We feel very privileged to have had this money for such an emergency, but that will run out soon. We humbly ask for your support, in the form of a donation or by sharing this campaign with others.
