Just weeks before Christmas, our family’s world was turned upside down. My stepdad, Geoff, was suddenly hospitalized and placed under the care of 12 doctors across three different specialties. After weeks of tests and uncertainty, he received a life-changing diagnosis—one that will require lifelong treatment to manage.

Geoff will now need monthly medical injections that cost thousands of dollars just to keep his condition at bay. While we are incredibly grateful that he was released from the hospital on January 13, 2026, his journey is far from over. He is continuing his recovery at home and will not be able to return to work for some time.

Right now, Geoff and my mom, Christine, are living on only a portion of his income. With everyday bills already piling up, the added burden of ongoing medical costs is overwhelming. Anyone who knows my parents knows they are not the type to ask for help—they are hardworking, resilient, and always do their best to handle life’s challenges on their own. But this situation is bigger than anything they could have prepared for.
