ORGANIZED FOR BENEFIT OF GEOFF GEORGE - PLEASE SHARE! For those who have been following, I'm I've been incredibly ill for 6 months with severe gut issues and am now so weakened that I am in a life-threatening medical situation which has also resulted in an emergency financial situation. I'm reaching out for help for emergency funds for medical & living expenses, as I am weeks away from medical and financial disaster.

Some light has been shed on the medical situation, as I've just been diagnosed with copper toxicity which can be lethal is left untreated, which is coming from either from severe zinc depletion from the gut issues or genetic Wilson's disease being unmasked by the low zinc. Testing is being done to see if there is a genetic component. Either way, the 6 months of diarrhea has created a malnutrition situation which has left me depleted of vital nutrients and minerals, chief among them zinc (which helps regulate copper). As a result, my liver is under-functioning. A few weeks ago my free copper got so high that it was approaching the level associated with imminent liver failure and other disastrous life threatening effects. We got the free copper to come down a bit but its still in the toxic zone, basically damaging everything in my body, including my nervous system and kidneys.

My kidneys have been damaged so they are not properly holding on to electrolytes – I need immense amounts of potassium etc. to keep stable. Loss of electrolytes if goes too far can instantly stop your heart with an arrhythmia. I need expensive specialized medical foods and supplements just to keep barely stable, and am two skipped meals or one extra diarrhea away from an arrhythmia risk on any given day. This kind of kidney damage does not respond to dialysis.

Also my blood clotting factors (which are controlled by the liver) are not working properly so i need to take high doses of prescription vitamin K1 just to keep from bleeding out, and I am now borderline anemic which puts me at heart failure risk. In short, I'm in extremely dangerous shape, and I am now suffering from PTSD from dealing with all of this.

I've become so weak that I can barely get around the house, have a wheelchair in the kitchen and have to travel to Dr. on stretcher.
Family and friends have helped out financially as much as they can, and my Facebook and High School friends have helped as much as they can, and i am deeply grateful for this lifesaving help. But this money will run out in less than two weeks, which will be life threatening.

I've been bounced in and out of local ERs and doctors who do nothing. I think most people can relate to this given the USA's broken healthcare system, and lack of universal healthcare.

Except for my primary care doctor who is trying to help as best he can but lacks the authority to force a hospital to admit me or to administer IV electrolytes or minerals, the doctors here are quite literally just standing calmly by and watching me slowly die. I've fought the medical and hospital system in RI as hard as I can while being severely ill, and the bottom line is getting proper medical care in the US all comes down to moneyhospital and insurance companies will do everything they possibly can to save money and deny care up to and including lying on your medical records and violating federal EMTLA patient protection laws, and hospital and insurance management could care less if you live or die as long as their shareholders are happy.

The most shocking thing about this is this: ALL OF THIS, EVERY BIT OF IT, IS TREATABLE AND ULTIMATELY MOSTLY REVERSIBLE with adequate care, which is virtually absent in this state (RI is one of the two worst states in the Union for healthcare). If a proper (emphasis on proper) hospital and medical system treats my medical situation NOW instead of delaying, then there is a very good chance of recovery.

It now has become apparent that I may need to hire a private ambulance to take me back and forth to a larger city with a proper hospital where I might be able to see a liver specialist who can give me the care I need. But I'm so weak that this trip alone will be extremely medically dangerous.

I've been through every social service, home care, local help center, etc., and Rhode Island basically lacks any financial resources that could even begin to touch my situation. I need specialized medical supplements and foods and medical expenses that are keeping me alive in addition to basic living expenses like food, keeping the phone, utilities, lights on, as well as my doctor (the only dr. trying to help) who is telehealth and on a cash basis, etc., and now a potential need for a private ambulance (this isn't even taking into account the doctor expenses if I somehow magically make it out of state).

Any of my high school friends know I lived on my own and been self-supporting since I was seventeen. This is a hard and humbling and embarrassing thing to ask. SSI disability benefits would take a year to get as the system is such that you basically have to go to court to get it, and it would not be enough to put a dent in this situation anyway. And I’ve got weeks, not a year, to find a way to fix this situation.

After doing a realistic budget and reconciling what this situation will actually require, because it's going to take at least several months for me to get back on track and that's if I can manage to get proper care from these doctors, right now I'm trying to raise $12,000. After that, I don't know what's going to happen, but for the time being I'm just worried about the immediate future. I'll be posting regular updates on here and on my Facebook and calling attention to this post. And if someone isn't comfortable or can't help financially, I can totally respect that - I know everyone is struggling right now given the shape our economy is in.

But even if a financial contribution isn't in the works, helping me like and share this post and get the word out far and wide would be deeply appreciated, and also each like and share makes the visibility algorithm work better. That will go an incredibly long way as well, as it gets more eyes on it.

Again, I'm only doing this because my back is up against the wall and I'm in dire financial straits and a critical health crisis. Any help will be deeply appreciated and lifesaving.

Thank you all so very much.
