Support Geoff Moritz's Brave Fight Against Cancer

This is our friend Geoff Moritz. On July 9, 2024, Geoff was diagnosed with Oral Cervical Cancer.

The diagnosis of cancer is devastating, emotional, exhausting and really expensive. We are reaching out to our community for help. Geoff is expected to be out of work for an extensive period of time. While we are so grateful that he will be receiving care from the incredible doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC, this will involve transportation costs, long-term overnight stays, out-of-pocket medical expenses, meals, childcare and mounting household expenses that cannot be covered by disability.

You may know Geoff from Friends of Belmar Harbor, Belmar, where he is the Executive Director of the Youth Sailing and Discovery Camp or as a scout leader for Troop 6 in Point Pleasant Beach. Maybe he has helped teach your child at Wall Central School or Acelero Learning in South Amboy and Neptune or gotten you through a rough day at work at Piner Elementary in Lakewood where he currently works as a Reading Interventionist. It’s even possible that you have had your picture taken with “Buddy the Elf” right here in Point Pleasant because this guy is willing to look completely ridiculous just to make you smile and bring a little extra magic to any celebration.

Whether you know him as Geoff, G-Off, Mr. Moritz, Mr. Geoff, Buddy the Elf or as our kids call him “Uncle” he fills the space with love, kindness and laughter. Geoff is an incredible husband, father, uncle, teacher, camp counselor, scout leader and friend. If you know him, you love him, or you don’t (he’s a pretty bizarre dude), but he doesn’t care. That is the beauty of Geoff, he would give you the shirt off of his back anyway.
