Geoff is facing one of life’s toughest challenges. This summer, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that has spread throughout his abdomen and into his spine. His cancer is considered terminal, with a prognosis between one and five years, but his determination to live fully and on his own terms hasn’t changed.
Geoff continues to undergo biweekly chemotherapy treatments for the foreseeable future. The treatments are helping slow the progression of the disease, but they are not curative. The effects of cancer and treatment have left Geoff with very limited stamina and endurance, making it impossible for him to work. Unfortunately, he was let go from his previous employer before receiving his diagnosis, which means he has no access to short- or long-term disability benefits.
Despite everything, Geoff’s focus is on maintaining quality of life and spending meaningful time with Jacquie and their loved ones by creating memories that aren’t defined by cancer.
Many people within Geoff’s spheres of influence have asked what they can do to help. There are several ways in which support would be incredibly meaningful, including:
Making Home Accessible
As Geoff’s condition changes, his home needs significant modifications to remain safe and functional:
- Adding a half bathroom on the third level for accessibility
- Installing handrails along all stairways
- Renovating the ensuite bathroom to include a walk-in shower
- Adding grab bars near toilets and in showers
- These changes will help Geoff stay comfortable and safe in his own home for as long as possible.
Making Time Matter
Geoff knows that time is precious. His “best-before date” is a reality that’s come much sooner than anyone expected. With your support, Geoff hopes to fulfill a few experiences that will bring him and Jaquie some peace and fulfillment:
- Make memories while travelling to destinations including his family’s lake in SK, Churchill, MB, the three Canadian oceans, Atlantic Canada, and perhaps somewhere tropical!
- Create more shared experiences with friends, including having a 50th birthday celebration, a 20th wedding anniversary, renting a house/ party boat, and jamming and gigging with friends.
Every donation will help Geoff and Jacquie focus on what matters most—living, laughing, and creating memories that last. Whether you can give a little or a lot, or simply share this page, your support means everything.
Thank you for helping Geoff live well, with dignity and joy.
