Hello.

My name is Benjamin Kimera and I have been a professional wrestler for 25 years. In that time, I have had the pleasure of traveling all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico in order to perform. I am not writing on behalf of myself today, I am writing on behalf of my dear friend Gen Goulet aka LuFisto.

In my travels, in the wrestling business, you do not meet a lot of people that are good or genuine. You meet a lot of people who are selfish and care only for themselves. Gen is not one of these people. For over 25 years she has traveled the world to entertain fans all over and bring joy to others. People love her as a performer and as good as she is in the ring, she is even a better person outside of it.

She is so kind, beautiful, intelligent, gracious, generous, and professional. She is strong and brave, taking on people in our industry that need to be challenged for their behavior. When others run and hide from these challenges, or play politics to get ahead, my dear friend stands tall and brave and backs down from no one.... Ever. She has so much grace and pride you can see it in her aura when she walks into a locker room or through a curtain. She has educated so many girls in wrestling, she has coached so many young wrestlers, the independents would not be thriving without her.

Unfortunately, through no fault of her own, and not even because of an injury in the ring, she is dealing with a disease that greatly impacts her quality of life.

Lipedema is a chronic disorder that often remains misunderstood and misdiagnosed. It is characterized by the abnormal accumulation of stubborn fibrotic fat in the legs and arms, causing pain and discomfort. Lipedema runs in families and is believed to be inherited to affect 11% of individuals assigned female at birth (AFAB).

Lymphedema causes swelling due to the lymphatic system being damaged, either by past surgeries, cancer or by other hormonal changes.

Gen has been diagnosed with both.

In a matter of six months, she went from being in the best shape of her life to her lower body being so swollen and heavy that she is now in excruciating pain and borderline immobile.

She went from going to work 5 days a week, training 5-6 days a week and wrestling every weekend, to struggling working at home, not being able to train, of course, not being able to wrestle anymore. Even putting on pants or having her cats walking across her lap can be very painful.

It is crucial to know that Lipedema fat does not respond to diet and exercise interventions or weight loss surgery such as bariatric surgery. Lipedema is not a moral failing. It is a real medical condition that is worthy of care, compassion, and support. People with lipedema often report “knowing something isn’t right” when their bodies grow larger and more painful despite all efforts to eat nutritious foods and exercise.

There is no official cure for this disease. However, it can be effectively managed with various treatment options: Manual Lymphatic Drainage, pressotherapy, elevating the legs and wearing compression socks (from mid-section to ankles).

Unfortunately for Gen, none of the methods of care work anymore. Therefore, there is only one way to get some relief and that is through Lipedema Reduction Surgery. This surgery provides a significant improvement in pain, sensitivity to pressure, edema, bruising, feeling of tension, and quality of life. Patients also experience significant reductions in the size of extremities and restriction of movement, as well as the need for conservative therapy for lipedema.

Surgeons performing surgery for lipedema must be experienced and trained in the procedure, with a thorough understanding of the condition and its effects on the lymphatic system so they don’t make the Lymphedema worse than it is already.

As of now, Lipedema Reduction Surgery is not available in Canada and provincial healthcare plans do not currently provide coverage for it. Therefore, due to a lack of trained, experienced providers in Can-ada, many patients seek the care of qualified international surgeons… So, that’s what Gen needs to do to get her life back.

(UPDATED) --------

Lipedema Reduction Surgery is very costly and often multi-stage, which is the case of Gen who will need at least two surgeries. We now know the fees for each:

Surgery No. 1 - Upper leg
May 30, 2024
24,000.00 USD
+ meds 90.00 USD

Surgery No. 2 - Lower leg
Unconfirmed - Ideal date would be around August 20
25,500.00 USD
+ meds 90.00 USD

TOTAL FOR BOTH: 49,680.00 USD
+ transport from Montreal, Quebec x2
+ Lodging for 5 days x2
+ Food for 5 days x2

Since getting the first surgery was urgent, Gen had to get a major loan from a bank Canadian bank (she can’t get financing in the US) for the surgery itself but your donations so far made it possible to cover transport, lodging, prepay her medication and a little bit of the deposit for the first surgery.

THANK YOU!

-----------

There is still much to raise to help her cover this outrageous amount, an amount she doesn’t have.

She is selling her history to fund it, and to that I find it unacceptable. If I had the money, I would just do it myself, and I am doing this myself without her endorsement because she is just too tough and proud not to be a fighter, but when I speak to her, she is fighting through tears, she is in excruciating pain every minute of every day, she cannot sleep, she can barely work, and I cannot stomach it. She is too good of a person to have this happen to her, and her suffering breaks my heart.

So, if you are reading this, I beg of you to help her. If you ever watched her in the ring and smiled, I beg of you to help her. If you are green and still paying dues... Forget paying them to me if I help train you... Pay them to Gen. I beg of each and every person reading this to please help her. She lays it all on the line in the ring for your love, and I promise you, she loves you back and infinitely more.

Please donate, and please share publicly.

Thank you again.

God Bless you and your generosity.
