Hello everyone, my name is Genovie. I am reaching out for help after getting a call from a financial patient advocate that my upcoming surgery is not covered. My upcoming surgery is for the removal of a growing cyst the size of a golf ball on the back of my neck. Due to the size, I will have to be put under anesthesia. Once removed, the cyst will be sent off for biopsy to see if it is cancerous or benign. The cost of the surgery is $11,436 and my goal is set to $12,000 to cover the surgery, labs, and pre-admission tests. Previously, I was living in California, covered on my father’s insurance. I am now residing in Indiana and enrolled in employer insurance. The only two options are a preventative care plan and the highest coverage plan being a limited benefit indemnity. Even with the limited benefit indemnity plan, I am continuing to be shocked and saddened at the lack of coverage it supports. I have struggled trying to maintain mental health, diabetic treatment, etc., all on this plan.
Labs alone, my plan will pay $20 of it, and my last bill was around $400. I do not qualify for Medicaid, and looking at the Federal Marketplace for low-cost insurance isn't so low-cost. I cannot avoid this surgery, and I simply cannot afford this as a single adult living by herself. I am in school, I work full-time, and I pay all of my bills, struggling each month. I’ve been tolerating this large cyst on my neck for 3 weeks now. It grows larger and more painful day by day, and I cannot imagine taking 8 ibuprofen a day and rubbing lidocaine cream on it every hour indefinitely. It's made bending over, sleeping, and driving very difficult. I don’t ask others for help often, but I humbly ask for your help.
Any donation is appreciated.
Thank you.
