In August, it was discovered that Gene had a Renal Cell Carcinoma. We are hopeful that this was caught early and he will soon be cancer free, but the doctor will know more once he goes in to remove the tumor. Due to the location of the tumor, he will need to have his entire kidney removed. This surgery will be taking place on November 10, and he will then be unable to work for possibly 6 weeks. Since he had been at his job less than a year when receiving the diagnosis, he won’t have much available for paid time off. He could use some help with any out-of-pocket medical expenses, travel to Columbia for the surgery and follow-up appointments, as well as keeping up on bills while not being able to work. While he was not expecting any kind of help, some have asked about ways to contribute. I know he would be beyond grateful for a little support.
