Support Gene's Fight For Life and Liver Transplant
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Taylor Tafoya. My father-in-law, Gene Tafoya, is currently in ICU awaiting a liver transplant. He has been battling non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) for about 7 years now. The only "cure" is a new liver.
Gene's health took a big turn for the worst and he has been hospitalized since early May. He was quickly transported to a specialty hospital, which is several hours from home, where he has been since. The only way he will get to leave the hospital is with a liver transplant. He is currently battling a secondary infection that was brought on by antibiotics for the initial infection that caused him to be hospitalized. While he battles this infection he cannot have any procedures, so he will have to fully clear it before he can be eligible to receive a liver transplant.
For those who might not know Gene, he is a sweet and caring father and husband who adores his wife Ruth and his two children, Cristian & Jackie (and his grandpuppy, Rip). He spent his 30 year career helping special needs high-schoolers learn job and life skills for them to take into the world after they graduate.
We are asking for help during this time so that Gene and Ruth can focus on keeping Gene healthy while they wait for a liver to become available and post-surgery hospital recovery. Additionally these funds would help cover Ruth's lodging and travel back and forth to be with Gene.
We understand this is a tough time for a lot of people and humbly ask for any support you may be able to provide, even a quick prayer.
Thank you,
Tafoya Family
