What is The truID Project?

Professional studio portrait events organized in safe environments, with a team of hair stylists, barbers, and make-up artists, all working to help transgender people fully-realize their beauty with memorable portrait sessions.

When & Where is this planned to take place?

Brooklyn, NY and Providence, RI this July! Finalizing venue locations by the end of June.

Why are you on GoFundMe?

We work to keep the sessions as affordable as possible for everyone who comes into the studio, working on a pay-what-you-can basis. However, there are still several built-in expenses that need to be managed regardless of turnout. Equipment and venue fees, a security detail, gas and tolls coming up from Florida with a van full of equipment, modest lodging. To keep from needing to charge over $100+ per person and banking on minimums, the goal is to take donations and bring on sponsors to offset costs and compensate the hard-working crew. With your help, we can fully sponsor these events and not even need to take donations on-site from clients!

What if you don't hit your goal?

The first two northeast shoots planned will likely still go on, but with small deposits needed to secure spots and the crew working on a "pay-what-you-can" basis.

What if you exceed your goal?

Wishful thinking! It's not likely, but in the off chance it happens, we hope to add more shoots in additional cities down the line. Any funds raised here that aren't used on the first two photoshoots would go towards expenses for a third shoot.
