Dear friends and family,

Just under a year ago, my mom Gena visited a walk-in clinic for persistent shoulder pain. What she thought was a minor injury quickly turned into a life-changing diagnosis: stage 4, triple-negative inflammatory breast cancer.

She began aggressive treatment right away, undergoing chemo and immunotherapy in both our local area and in Seattle. Anyone who knows Gena knows she’s a fighter, and despite the pain and setbacks, she continues to battle with incredible strength and grace.

Recently, we learned her local treatment was no longer effective. After seeking expert care, she was accepted into a two-year clinical trial at MD Anderson in Houston, TX, one of the few places specializing in this rare cancer. This opportunity brings hope, but it also requires her to travel to Houston every three weeks.

While my dad has done everything possible to manage costs through insurance and grants, travel expenses have taken a heavy toll on their finances. We have started this GoFundMe to help cover ongoing travel and treatment-related expenses.
