My husband and I adopted Gemma on September 25th from CACC in Chicago her first week was full of pure joy that she was finally in a home where she was so loved and knew she’d forever be safe. Panic set in on October 2nd I had to rush Gemma to an emergency vet to get evaluated because she was bleeding heavily and had become aggressive over slight movements (getting her harness on, petting, etc.) . They ran a kidney and liver panel and found out her eosinophil count was extremely high and diagnosed it as a bacterial infection and told us to bring her back for ultrasound if she wasn’t getting better. So Friday we did just that brought her back to get reevaluated. They did a sedated ultrasound where they found a sac of abnormal fluid where her ovaries would have been. So they sent the fluid out to be examined. Today we got the call that the fluid came back and she has to go back into surgery to try and resolve the granuloma. With a toddler and now two dogs at home the bills are pilling up trying to keep our newest member alive… Anyone who knows us knows we hate asking anyone for help but we’re in need of desperate help to stay afloat we’ve already drained our savings account and don’t want to give up on Gemma. She’s already such a big part of our family
Sincerely, The Smiths
