My sweet baby, Gemini, has herniated discs c13 through c15.
She started walking a bit slower on Friday, and it looked like her back was tight. I took her to the park and just laid with her and rubbed her back, and she returned to normal.
Saturday afternoon she began to walk slowly around the kitchen island when no one was home, eventually stopping and sitting at the front door.
She was taken to the ER when she stopped using her back legs. We stayed with her there until 1am to confirm there were no fractures.
We returned to an ER with a neurologist, who is currently working on Geminis spine as we speak.
Gemini was the sun in my life when I was struggling to get out of bed. She would lick my face when I would cry, and wouldn't sleep unless I listened to music with her.
She's adventurous, playful, and loved running around. She had a habit of running under my legs as a puppy and maintains a habit of sleeping between and alongside legs. We went skating, she came with me to work, she's come on runs with me, we've been stalked by a coyote together, and she's an incredible little guard dog. She's my cinnamon roll, my personal Abra, my sweetie baby, my whiny butt. Her lower jaw is shorter than her upper jaw, so if you pull her lips up she always has a few teeth out, and she doesn't quite get the bite she wants when she's playing tug of war but loves to play anyway.
We are doing everything we can to help her fight for her motor functions and get her out and in the fields and flowers again.
