Gears in Motion (Team# 66856) is a First Lego League team made up of five dedicated students and three passionate coaches from Apex, North Carolina. Led by engineers Shiva, Jonathan, and Vivek, the competiton team includes students Ishi, Tia, Tanya, and Prithvi. Over the past few years, the team has faced many challenges, struggling to even qualify for state competitions in 2023 and 2024. However, their perseverance and teamwork paid off in 2025, when they achieved extraordinary success with their innovation project, SolSafe. A patent has been filed for SolSafe smart hard hat with USPTO on December 2nd, 2025.

SolSafe is a smart hardhat designed to keep workers safe in high-temperature environments. The device can detect ambient temperature and automatically adjust three onboard fans to cool the wearer. It also provides alerts if someone has been working without a break longer than OSHA guidelines recommend. The team worked tirelessly to draft, prototype, and present this innovative solution, and their efforts have earned them a spot at the world competition in Worcester, MA.

To make this dream a reality, Gears in Motion needs help covering the registration fee and travel expenses for the competition in June 2026. Every dollar raised will go directly toward these costs, ensuring the team can represent their community on a global stage. Our team loves to learn, and every moment spent engaged with this program helps prepare our middle school students for a bright future in STEM. By supporting this fundraiser, you are giving these students the opportunity to learn more about product development, coding, professionalism, and teamwork. Thank you for helping us inspire the next generation of innovators!
