Support Gay's Fight for a Healthy Future

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I am reaching out to ask for your support for my beloved aunt, Gay VandenHoek, as she faces one of the toughest battles of her life. Gay has been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS)—a rare and serious condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough healthy blood cells. Left untreated, MDS can progress to acute leukemia.

As Christians, we firmly believe in the power of prayer and God’s grace in times of trial. We trust that through faith, community, and the hands of skilled medical professionals, Gay can find healing and hope.

Gay is currently waiting for a bone marrow transplant, her best hope for a cure. However, this journey comes with immense challenges—physically, emotionally, and financially. After her transplant, Gay and her husband Dave, her caregiver will be required to live in Denver for a minimum of 100 days to be near her medical team for constant monitoring and post-transplant care. The costs of temporary housing, transportation, and mounting medical expenses are already becoming overwhelming.

We humbly ask for your prayers for Gay’s healing and strength, as well as for the doctors and caregivers entrusted with her treatment. We have also set a fundraising goal of $50,000 to help cover these crucial costs, including:

Housing in Denver for at least 100 days post-treatment

Transportation to and from the hospital for appointments and emergency care

Medical expenses not covered by insurance, including medications and specialized care

Gay is a devoted mother to four grown children and has just welcomed her first grandchild into the world. She dreams of watching her granddaughter grow up, and we want to give her every chance to make that a reality.
