Gayle, 62 became ill in late November 2024, her illness caused her to have a seizure which resulted in her being hospitalized mid-December. Gayle is a single mom with a 19 year old daughter who is away at college.
Gayle was released form the hospital after a 4 day stay. She was given a walker as she was having stability issues walking. Additionally, Gayle is experiencing short term memory loss. Gayle is currently at home in her 1-bedroom apartment where she lives alone. She has out of pocket medical expenses mounting and additionally has had no income for over two months. She is expecting to start receiving short term disability through her employer. Though she is now able to walk without the walker, she still has some stability issues walking and is unable to drive. Currently her Family Physician estimates that she may go back to work sometime in April, however this is not definite and only an estimate.
Gayle is seeing several medical specialists including a Neurologist, Cardiologist and will be starting work with a physical therapist to help her recovery. During the past 2 months she has had multiple blood tests, MRI's, neurological and cardiac testing. She is still experiencing short term memory issues and some physical stability issues.
Gayle has not been able to work since the end of November. She has out of pocket medical expenses mounting and additionally has had no income for over two months. She is expecting to start receiving short term disability through her employer, this however only pays 2/3 if her current salary. Her job which is working with special needs children at a local high school is a 35 hour a week position and barely pays her expenses when she is working. Aside from medical expenses she will need help paying her rent, food, utilities, and other essential living expenses.
Gayle's current out of pocket medical expenses have reached over $4000.00 in medical bills continue to come in. Additionally, each visit to a specialist cost approximately $100.00 for co-payments, she sees at least 1 specialist each week.
Gayle needs help with paying her out of pocket medical expenses and additional expenses to supplement her short-term disability payments which start mid-February.
Your donation will help cover her medical epenses and provide much-needed support as she focuses on healing in the months ahead.
Our fundraising goal is $6000.00 for her medical expenses and an additional $3900.00 for living expenses through April. Total goal is $9900.00.
