Hi everyone,

My name is Gaya, and I’m fundraising for my sweet Frenchie, Hugo — my angel, my shadow, and the best companion I could ever ask for. Hugo will be 9 years old in October, and we’ve recently been hit with heartbreaking news: he was diagnosed with an aggressive soft tissue sarcoma.

In early July, Hugo underwent major surgery to remove the tumor, which included part of his shoulder blade. Thankfully, the surgical margins were clean — a huge relief. But because of how aggressive the cancer is, we’ve been advised that chemotherapy or radiation will likely be necessary to help prevent it from returning.

The cost of surgery alone was $14,500. Insurance only covered $5,000, and with all the pre- and post-op visits, diagnostics, and ongoing care, our total medical expenses have reached nearly $16,000. As I continue navigating his treatment, I’m doing everything I can to give Hugo the best chance at a long, healthy life.

We’re hoping to raise $10,000 to help offset the financial strain and continue giving Hugo the care he needs. Every dollar will go directly to Hugo’s medical expenses — including potential chemo or radiation, follow-up visits, and recovery support.

If we are lucky enough to raise more than our goal, any extra funds will be donated to BluePearl Midtown in Manhattan, where Hugo received extraordinary and compassionate care. Their team has gone above and beyond for us, and we’d love to give back.
