Support Gavin's Spinal Surgery and the Fight Against CMT4J!

Help Gavin Hudspeth recover from spinal fusion surgery while fighting a rare disease - CMT4J!

On behalf of the Hudspeth Family, we are reaching out to ask for your support for an incredible young person who has been facing an uphill battle. On January 29th, Gavin is scheduled to undergo spinal fusion surgery to stabilize his spine and needs our help as he faces the upcoming health challenges post-surgery, especially in conjunction with his rare disease – CMT4J.

Gavin is a bright, optimistic kid who was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4J (CMT4J) as a young child. It is a rare and progressive neurological disorder that impacts the nerves and muscles. Due to the degradation of their nerves, people with CMT suffer lifelong progressive muscle weakness and atrophy of the arms and legs, among other devastating symptoms. This leads to problems with balance, walking, hand use, and more. There currently is no cure for this rare and debilitating disease.

In addition to the cost of spinal surgery and treatment, Gavin is hoping to participate in a clinical trial that could offer new hope for those living with CMT4J. This trial could be a major step forward in finding a potential cure!

The challenges don’t end there. Gavin wants to experience CMT camp to create lasting friendships with others that suffer from CMT. As a Senior in high school, he also wants to attend grad night and celebrate life with his friends. Your support will not only help cover the costs of Gavin's medical needs, but also provide the motivation he needs to keep pushing forward in physical therapy while fighting CMT4J.

We’re asking for donations to help cover:

• Spinal fusion surgery and related medical expenses

• Additional intensive physical therapy, adaptive devices, and other tools for his recovery and growth

• Support for camp, grad night, and other experiences to keep him motivated

• Funding to help find a cure for CMT4J
