Support Gavin's Journey to Becoming a Firefighter

Hey there! This campaign is for my friend Gavin. I met him where we work more than a year ago, and he is a great kid. We're about the same age, and recently we got talking about our personal lives, so I got to learn a lot more about his situation.

He lived in the foster system for much of his life, being in and out of families, only getting to meet his birth parents a few times. He was also born with a rare eye defect likely caused by fetal-alcohol syndrome, which left him blind in one eye, greatly diminishing the jobs he can work. Because of this, he had to undergo a surgery, or he would have lost his eye.

He turned 18 and graduated last summer and was forced to leave the foster community behind. After that, he had no insurance, so he paid for the surgery himself, which left him with little to no savings for rent, food, or transportation. Due to complications with his rent, he will have no place to stay by December 31st and said it's possible he will become homeless. He often works all day and walks hours to and from work because he does not own a car. He wants to become a firefighter but has no time or way to get to school, and no savings to pay for tuition.

The funds raised from this campaign would go towards the rent that needs to be paid off, finding a new place to stay, tuition for the firefighter program, and getting a better mode of transportation. Anything is appreciated, thank you for your consideration!
