It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we share the devastating and heartbreaking news of the sudden loss of Gavin, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle collision on Wednesday the 16th April 2025 on the A120. His passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts of his partner Mel, 4 wonderful Children, family, friends, and all who knew him.
Gavin was a Fiancé, father, son, brother and friend and was tragically killed instantly at the age of 42 without his family getting a chance to say goodbye. Before Gavin met Mel he said he was married to his job, in time he become a family man with their 4 children and settled down to live his life with Mel in the village of Earls Colne, and was the most amazing dad and always put Mel and his kids before himself, he supported them in anything they wanted to do and achieve even if he didn’t agree it, if it was what they wanted he was right behind them. Gavins favourite times were with his family, going for days out, or going into town to rummage through cash converters and into Cex to get games and toys for his twin little boys. He was a big Arsenal supporter and adored taking his children to play in their football matches and supporting them by cheering on from the sidelines. With other hobbies the kids were in to he was also right there with them. He loved the school parents evenings and hearing about how all the kids were doing and was massively supportive of their education and so very proud of each of them for their achievements. He loved his motorbikes, only fools and horses and had an amazing, cheeky sense of humour. He left for work each morning singing as he went out the door as was always a happy positive person. Gavin was a lorry driver for Woodlands Logistics and loved his job because lorry driving was the only career he wanted to do from a young age, he also made many friends at work. He lit up every room with his presence, his laughter, and his generous spirit. He lived with passion and purpose, and his love for the people in his life was unmatched.
This loss was unexpected and devastating. As Gavin’s family tries to cope with the emotional weight of this tragedy, they are also now faced with the overwhelming financial burden of funeral costs, memorial arrangements, and time away from work to grieve and begin healing as well. Mel now finding herself a single mother of 4 which is a daunting position to be in especially with the worry and grief added.
Mel and the kids, Ella, Bethany, Henry ,Leo and the rest of Gavins family not only grieve for the loss of Gavin but the loss of the future they set out, the unconditional love, the marriage, support, smiles, laughs, morning text messages when he was away, him seeing them grow up, the comfort he gave and so much more.
We are creating this fundraiser with permission from Mel to help ease some of that burden. Every donation will go directly to Mel to cover funeral expenses, support day-to-day costs, and give them space to mourn without the added stress of finances. No family should have to go through something like this alone, and your support — whether it’s a donation, a kind message, or a share — means more than words can express.
Thank you for honouring Gavin’s memory and showing love and support to his family during this incredibly difficult time.
