Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to help our dear friend Gary, who recently suffered a debilitating accident - he fell down the stairs (on his birthday, December 19) and broke his neck. After 30 days in the hospital, he currently resides in a nursing home. As he works through the medical system's transitional care, his many friends and family are working hard to get his home prepared for wheelchair and walker accessibility, and the expenses of doing so are burdensome on a guy who already lives on the barest of income. He is unable to work and faces mounting medical bills while struggling to stay in his beloved home.

For many years, this wonderful man has blessed our community with the most beautiful gardens and has given of himself so generously whenever anyone has needed help. Now it's our turn to help him. To make it possible for Gary to continue to live in his home, we need to make essential modifications including, a chairlift installation ($3,000), a bathroom renovation on the second floor to install a walk in shower ($12,000), and a 1/2 bath installation on the main level ($15-$20,000). His home is all he has and we hope to make it livable for him as he endeavors his new reality. We are so appreciative of any donation, big or small, that will help ensure Gary can remain in his home.
