Gary is a dear friend of many years who has always been there for his family and community. When his parents lost their home in the Alta Dena fire, Gary and his sister stepped in to help them resettle and rebuild their lives. Almost immediately after helping his parents navigate insurance, moving, and starting over, he began feeling ill and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The diagnosis was a shock, and since then, Gary has been bravely facing rounds of chemotherapy and soon will begin radiation. As a contract bookkeeper, Gary is not eligible for disability benefits, and the toll of his illness and treatments has made it nearly impossible for him to keep up with work. This has left him struggling to cover basic living expenses and mounting medical bills.

Throughout this difficult time, Gary’s wife, Charity, has been an incredible source of strength and comfort. Her unwavering support has helped Gary face each challenge with hope and determination. Together, they are navigating this journey with courage, leaning on each other and their community.

Despite these challenges, Gary's resilience shines through. He has a rare case of pancreatic cancer where he has a real shot at a surgical cure. After his surgery, no additional cancers have been found, which is incredible news and gives us hope. Now, Gary needs support to get through this last phase of treatment and healing so he can regain his health and return to work.
