On August 5th, 2025, the world lost a truly special soul. After a long and courageous battle with Myasthenia Gravis, Gary Johnson passed away surrounded by love. His absence leaves a deep void in the lives of those who knew and cherished him.
We’re reaching out on behalf of Gary’s wife, Eileen, his daughter, Tara, and his son, Jared, to raise funds to help cover medical and funeral costs(date of service to be determined). Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly to his family to ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
This year has been especially painful for the family. Gary’s passing marks the third loss in their immediate family within 14 months. Both Eileen and Tara have also faced health challenges of their own. Despite everything, they continue to move forward with strength and love—but they shouldn’t have to carry the weight of another goodbye alone.
Gary was many things—a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was also a storyteller, an artist, a craftsman, and a cowboy at heart. He was a proud member of Saint David’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and loved his work family at Home Depot, where he was known for his dedication, warmth, and extensive knowledge of the electric department.
Gary was a talented leather worker who crafted beautiful pieces by hand, alongside Eileen who would paint them. Anyone lucky enough to have one of these pieces of art is truly blessed. I count myself among them. From cowboy-themed bathroom tiles to backyard gazebos, their house was a never-ending dream project. No matter how sick he became, Gary never stopped dreaming of the life he and Eileen were building together. He talked often, and at length, about how much he loved Eileen. You could hear it in his voice—she was his everything.
On a personal note, I was lucky enough to call Gary my friend. Every Christmas, he’d bring me cookies that Eileen had baked. He would call often just to check in and chat. He taught me how to tie knots for when I would go camping— literally making me practice them for hours to make sure I got them right. My tarps never come down in the rain.
Gary was truly one-of-a-kind. He wore bolo ties and cowboy hats not just as fashion, but as a way of life. He went to Renaissance Faires, was an avid camper, and loved visiting the wolf sanctuary of PA.
Please help us honor Gary and his memory. If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean the world. All funds raised through this campaign will go directly to Tara, Gary’s daughter, to help cover his cremation and memorial service, as well as medical bills and related family expenses. Your support will ease a heavy burden during an already overwhelming time, and any amount is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for keeping Gary and his loved ones in your heart.
