Support Gary Christensen: A Kind, Generous Man Who Needs Our Help Now
Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
We're reaching out to share the story of an incredible person—our friend Gary Christensen—and to ask for your help in supporting him during a difficult time. Gary has always been someone who gives his time, his energy, and his heart to others. But right now, Gary needs our help.
At 60 years old, Gary is facing a number of overwhelming challenges. He’s been living with Parkinson’s disease, which affects his mobility and day-to-day life. He has been out of work for several months now, struggling to secure a job in his long-time career as a banking compliance professional. Despite his extensive experience—he’s held senior roles at major financial institutions, has a master’s degree in finance, and is known for his positive attitude and strong work ethic—Gary has yet to be able to find a position in his field.
Gary is an incredibly proud and humble man. He’s the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back but struggles to ask for help when he needs it. That’s why we're writing this GoFundMe on his behalf—because Gary is facing a tough financial situation and needs our support.
He’s down to his last few dollars. The only savings he has left is an HSA account with $1,200, and he has no other savings or retirement funds to draw on. On top of that, Gary’s car was recently broken into and vandalized. Just three weeks ago, his car was stripped, tires and battery stolen, the windshield smashed, and his tags were stolen. It’s still being held by the police as part of their investigation. All of this has left Gary in a precarious position, and he’s doing everything he can to keep going, but it’s becoming harder each day.
Despite these struggles, Gary has never stopped being there for others. He has volunteered countless hours with Heare Brotherhood, a men’s mental health support group, where he has mentored and supported hundreds of men over the years. The Heare Brotherhood organization has over 1,000 active members, and Gary has interacted with most of them, always offering his wisdom, guidance, and empathy. He’s a key part of that community—a man who always lifts others up, even when he’s facing his own hardships.
Gary’s generosity is unmatched. Earlier this year, he paid $700 to attend a men’s retreat in Arizona, but after undergoing cataract surgery, his doctor placed travel restrictions on him, and he couldn’t attend. Instead of asking for a refund, Gary chose to gift his retreat stay to another man who couldn’t afford to go. This is just one small example of the many acts of kindness Gary has shown throughout his life.
Now, it’s our turn to give back to him.
We’ve created this GoFundMe to help Gary through this challenging time, to provide him with a financial cushion as he continues to search for a new job and rebuild his life. The funds will help cover his basic living expenses and give him some peace of mind while he navigates this difficult period.
Gary is an incredibly skilled professional, and any organization would be lucky to have him on their team. But right now, he needs a little extra help from all of us.
How You Can Help:
If you are able to donate, please consider contributing whatever you can—whether it’s $5, $25, $100, or more. Every little bit helps. If you can’t donate, we ask that you share this campaign with your network, so we can reach as many people as possible who might be able to offer support.
Gary has always given of himself without hesitation. Let’s give back to him now and help him get through this tough time.
