Help Garrett Heal — Surgery Is Done, Recovery Begins

Garrett has always been the one to step up to the plate—for his family, his friends, and anyone who needed him. Now, it’s our turn to step up for him.

Garrett has lived with degenerative disc disease since he was just 14 years old. For decades, he pushed through pain, refusing spinal fusion so he could continue living the active life he loves. He waited patiently for medical technology to advance, hoping for a solution that would preserve his mobility and quality of life.

This past fall, everything changed. After a torn rotator cuff, Garrett’s lower back rapidly declined. Within weeks, his pain became so severe he could barely stand or walk. After six months of worsening pain, immobility, and neurological symptoms, doctors agreed that major spine surgery was medically necessary and urgent to prevent permanent nerve damage.

Despite repeated appeals, peer-to-peer reviews, and extensive medical documentation, insurance denied coverage for the procedure.

Waiting was no longer an option.

Garrett has now undergone surgery and is currently in recovery. The procedure was extensive, and the road ahead includes days in the hospital, months of healing, and a long rehabilitation process.

Because of the insurance denial, Garrett and his family are now facing over $45,000 in medical bills, creating a significant financial burden during an already difficult time.

If you’re able to help—by donating, sharing this page, or keeping Garrett in your prayers—please know how deeply grateful we are. Every contribution goes directly toward medical expenses and recovery costs so Garrett can focus on healing and getting back to the life and family he loves.

Thank you for stepping up for Garrett when he needs it most.

Update!!!!!

We wanted to share a quick update. The surgery was extremely invasive, and the recovery so far has been tougher than expected, but the medical team feels he is exactly where he should be given the nature of the procedure. He’s in a lot of pain, still on strong medication, and limited to clear liquids while we wait for his system to fully wake back up. Some important functions are slowly starting to return, which has been encouraging.

He’s been able to stand and move a little with help, though it’s very painful, and the team is keeping a close eye on a new fever.

There isn’t much of an update beyond this for now, but we’ll keep sharing as things unfold. Thank you for the prayers and support—our family feels them.
