Support Garrett's Education After Scam Loss

Hi Friends,

My nephew, Garrett, is in college and is such a great young adult. He was just a victim of a scam that took all of his saved money for college books and supplies. He is 20 and is working toward a degree in cybersecurity and is an amazing student. He's on the Dean's List! He saved up $2,000 to purchase books and some supplies he needed for school and fell for a work-at-home scam where they hired him as an intern through school that ended up draining his account. His bank can't help as they sent him a check to purchase gift cards for supplies to get started that ended up being attached to a company that existed but didn't issue the check. By the time they disputed the check, the gift cards were redeemed and the person he was corresponding with ghosted him. This left him $2000 less in his account which was the money he had saved + some....his account ended up being negative 300.00. When he contacted the company, the person he had been corresponding with didn't work there, and they were not hiring. Everything seemed legit, and they were really good at making him believe he had this internship. :-(

He is so upset about this and feels like his start in this world is just kicking him down. I want to surprise him and show him that there are so many good people in the world that support each other and help when we are down. If you can donate even $5 or $10 to help me get his money back and also show him that good people exist and this is a small bump in the road and a hard lesson.
