Hello, my name is Garrett Saylor and I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 25 located in Middletown, Delaware. I have been in scouting since the third grade and have been on the path to Eagle Scout ever since. I have begun working on my Eagle Scout project and have started this Go Fund Me page to raise funds for my Eagle Scout project.
For my Eagle Scout Project, I am building 2 cat shelters and 3 cat feeding stations for a community of feral cats that are cared for by the Humane Animal Partners at their Christiana/Stanton, Delaware and Wilmington, Delaware locations and removing the pre-existing ones. They will be wooden shelters and feeding stations with shingled roofs where the cats can sleep and eat their food safe from the elements. A big part of the feeding stations is that they are raised off of the ground. The cats will have enough space to move so they don't feel trapped when inside.
The current shelters and feeding stations are shown in one of my photos. It is easy to see that they are in need of replacing. The new shelters will be smaller and easier for staff to move if needed. The feeding stations will have a pitched roof and include a longer overhang or porch to help keep the food protected from rain and snow.
When the new structures are installed, the staff will be able to befriend the feral cats, give them check ups to see if they are healthy and adoptable. This helps the cats and the community.
The cat houses will cost around $400 each for materials. The feeding stations will cost around $200 each for materials. Any funds raised and not used for the purchase of materials will be given to the Humane Animal Partners to help care for the pets at their shelter.
I hope you will consider supporting this project.
