This is not the Thanksgiving we had planned for, that's for sure. Wednesday (11/26), Garret flew to Denver to visit his parents and sister. On Thanksgiving morning, Garret's sister brought him to Rose Hospital in Denver because he was having problems catching his breath. They admitted him because he was in A-Fib.

They spent Thursday (11/27) trying IV meds but determined they would do a cardio aversion on Friday morning, to rule out any clots so they could use the paddles to shock his heart back to normal.

On Friday morning (11/28), I got on the plane to Denver and Garret fell asleep thinking a camera was going to check out his heart.

On the way from the airport to the hospital, I received a call from the Dr in ICU telling me that once the anesthesia kicked in, Garret's heart went into cardiac arrest. They started chest compressions and gave him epinephrine. About 3 - 4 minutes later, his heart restarted and reset itself back to normal. They sedated and intubated him.

Friday afternoon, the goal on Saturday morning was to slowly wake him, turn off the ventilator, and see if his heart would breathe on its own.

This morning, during rounds, the Dr told me that during the cardiac arrest, other organs started shutting down because his heart stopped beating. And now, those organs are struggling to work properly.

As of now, Garret will be staying in Denver, in ICU, for a few weeks.

I'm going to fly back to Minneapolis on Sunday night, regroup, grab a larger suitcase, and fly back to Denver on Friday morning. I'll stay in Denver until he can come home.

Please pray for Garret and for the doctors and nurses. I'll take a few also. Thank you to everyone already. Your prayers and offers of help are awesome. Garret really has an amazing group of friends and people who love him.
