Support Our Spiritual, Cultural & Educational Mission to Saint Vincent!

Project: The Garifuna Reconnection Project & Quest IV Yurumein

We are raising $5,000 to fund a spiritual, cultural, and educational mission to Saint Vincent - the ancestral homeland of the Garifuna people. The Garifuna Reconnection Project & Quest IV Yurumein is about returning to our roots, honoring our ancestors, documenting our history, and sharing knowledge. It is also about uncovering truths that help us move forward, access generational wealth, and foster unity instead of division among all Garifuna people worldwide.

Why This Mission Matters

For over 225 years, the Garifuna people have carried the legacy of exile and survival, preserving our language, traditions, and spirit across Central America and the U.S. This mission represents a homecoming - a chance to educate, document, and reconnect with the land of our ancestors.

Key Goals of This Trip:

1️⃣ Spiritual & Historical Pilgrimage – Visiting Balliceaux, the sacred site where our ancestors endured exile, for a healing ceremony with drumming, meditation, and ancestral offerings. We will also honor Paramount Chief Joseph Chatoyer at Dorchester Hill.

2️⃣ Education & Cultural Exchange – Teaching Garifuna history and traditions to students at local elementary and high schools through storytelling, dance, and interactive lessons.

3️⃣ Community Giving & Student Support – Providing school supplies, books, and gifts to students, with special recognition for outstanding scholars.

4️⃣ Cultural Preservation through Film – Documenting this journey for The Quest IV Yurumein: Garifuna Culture Docuseries, capturing the remnants of the Garifuna presence in Saint Vincent and ongoing efforts to keep our heritage alive.

How Your Support Helps

Your support helps us complete this mission, bring back valuable knowledge, and create future opportunities for you and others who seek to experience their own reconnection with our ancestral homeland.

Transportation – $2,000

Covers travel to historic sites, including Balliceaux, Bequia, Greiggs Village, and Dorchester Hill (where we will honor Chief Paramount Joseph Chatoyer). This includes boat rental fees, private group transport, and local travel for all volunteers.

Documentary Production – $500

Funds post-production, editing, and outreach for The Reconnection Project & Quest IV Yurumein, ensuring this powerful story reaches a global audience.

Educational Materials – $700

Provides Garifuna history books, school supplies, and learning materials for students at elementary and high schools to engage with and preserve their cultural heritage.

Student Gift Packages – $500

Ensures that every student receives a gift as part of our cultural exchange. The valedictorian and salutatorian at each school will be honored with a customized pair of Nike sneakers to celebrate their achievements.

Meals for Volunteers & Educators – $800

Provides meals for 15 volunteers throughout the mission, covering school visits, community engagements, and long travel days.

Cultural Preservation & Drumming – $300

Supports drummers, musicians, and storytellers who will lead cultural education sessions and preserve Garifuna traditions.

Miscellaneous & Emergency Funds – $300

Reserved for unexpected costs, last-minute needs, or additional student supplies.

Objetivos principales del viaje

Peregrinaje Espiritual e Histórico – Visitaremos Balliceaux, el sitio sagrado donde nuestros ancestros fueron exiliados, para una ceremonia de sanación con tambores, meditación y ofrendas ancestrales. También honraremos al Jefe Supremo Joseph Chatoyer en Dorchester Hill.

Educación e Intercambio Cultural – Enseñaremos la historia y tradiciones Garífunas a estudiantes de escuelas primarias y secundarias locales mediante narración de cuentos, danza y lecciones interactivas.

Apoyo a la Comunidad y a los Estudiantes – Donaremos útiles escolares, libros y regalos a los estudiantes, con un reconocimiento especial para los mejores alumnos.

Preservación Cultural a través del Cine – Documentaremos este viaje para The Quest IV Yurumein: Garifuna Culture Docuseries, capturando los restos de la presencia Garífuna en San Vicente y los esfuerzos continuos por mantener viva nuestra herencia.
