I’m reaching out for help for Gao, our beloved Husky. Gao was abandoned at a shelter as a puppy, and my younger brother and I adopted him, giving him a loving home. Unfortunately, Gao was born with Goniodysgenesis, a condition that led to severe Glaucoma in his left eye about a year ago.
Despite the overwhelming cost of nearly $2,000, my brother and I took him to an eye specialist and provided the necessary medications. We are both students working part-time jobs earning only $11/hour, yet we did everything we could to care for him. I even purchased pet insurance, but they do not cover pre-existing conditions. Without the funds for surgery, Gao lost his vision in his left eye permanently. Now, the vet has warned us that he will lose his right eye within a year if we don’t act fast.
I am not just fighting for Gao’s sight—I am fighting for my mother’s happiness. She is battling terminal metastatic cancer, and Gao is her only source of joy, her little child. Saving Gao means saving her spirit.
My family moved to the U.S. from Vietnam just two years ago, and life has been incredibly tough. We are doing everything we can, but we need a miracle. Please help us give Gao a chance to see the world a little longer.
Any amount, big or small, will make a difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
