Support Gani Koci’s Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
My father, Gani Koci, is a 67-year-old who has dedicated his life to the freedom and independence of Kosovo. For over 40 years, Gani has been a leader, activist, and a source of strength for our family and community. In 1981, he was imprisoned by Serbian authorities for 15 years because he led student protests against discrimination and the attempt to erase Albanians from Kosovo. He spent almost 11 years in prison, always holding onto hope for a free Kosovo. After his release in 1991, Gani continued his work, later joining the Kosovo Liberation Army alongside Adem Jashari, risking everything to defend our people from genocide. He was prepared to give his life for his country, but instead, he survived and had the honor to sign the declaration of independence on February 17, 2008. Gani is a loving husband, father to four children, and a proud grandfather.

Last year, Gani was diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma). He has undergone 17 doses of immunotherapy, which have helped him respond well to treatment, but the road ahead is long and challenging. In Kosovo, the cost of treatment is extremely high, and our family must pay for everything ourselves. My parents are retired, and my siblings and I work as much as we can, but it is not enough. Friends and family have helped us get this far, but we need support to continue Gani’s care and give him the best chance at recovery.

Funds raised will go directly toward Gani’s ongoing immunotherapy, medical bills, and related expenses. Every contribution will help ease the financial burden and allow us to focus on supporting Gani through his treatment. Thank you for standing with our family and helping us give Gani the care he deserves. Our father is currently undergoing treatment with Pembrolizumab (Keytruda), a life saving immunotherapy. Unfortunately, the hospital and Ministry of Health do not provide this therapy under the current outdated protocols. At the moment, they only cover patients with Malignant Melanoma and NSCLC, yet even those patients are not consistently receiving it. Despite this, oncologists around the world, and even locally, prescribe Pembrolizumab for many cancers, including our father’s diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC).

The treatment requires an infusion every 21 days. Each dose costs approximately €3,500, not including the additional costs of supportive medications, regular blood tests, and imaging studies that are necessary to monitor his response and keep him safe during treatment.

Our parents are both retired and together earn around €500 per month, which makes covering these costs impossible without outside help. Until now, we his children along with family and friends, have been pooling resources to keep him on treatment. Thankfully, he has been responding positively, giving us hope and motivation to continue.

The funds raised here will go directly toward:

Purchasing each dose of Pembrolizumab

Covering the costs of adjuvant medications

Paying for necessary blood tests and imaging scans

Every contribution, no matter the size, directly supports our father’s fight and gives him more time with his family. We are deeply grateful for any help you can provide—whether through donations or by sharing this campaign.
