***UPDATE***

After starting chemo, Gamble had an adverse reaction and it attacked his optic nerves, causing him to temporarily lose his vision. He was ordered to immediately discontinue chemo and while awaiting another chemo treatment, the Mayo clinic deemed it necessary to not wait any longer and Fred got an early eviction notice.
Gamble underwent a successful surgery this past Monday, March 17 at the Mayo, where Doctors removed Fred and discovered he grew 4cm since his scan in January of this year. He has a long road ahead of him, but he continues to push through and is on his road to recovery. He had a bumpy road with pain and failing IVs, but after his PICC line and pain under control, he was able to take his first steps after surgery Thursday, March 20.

******************************************************************

As many of you know, Gamble, has been dealing with health issues for some time. Gamble, Mom and Dad have been pushing to find the root cause of his symptoms since October of 2024. January 21st, news was received that a CT scan depicted a baseball size tumor attached to the wall of his upper stomach. Gamble has an “ultra rare” IMT ALK+ Sarcoma. Less than 1 in a million people will get this cancer.

Through all of this, Gamble has remained extremely positive and courageous. He is brave beyond his years. G faces each day with his witty and sarcastic humor (he’s named his tumor Fred). He has a long road ahead of him and he takes it in stride or in his words, he’s just ‘going with the flow’. He’s committed to healing and has told Mom and Dad ‘He will do what he’s gotta do because he has to.’

After numerous tests, a treatment plan has been put in place. His most recent scans show that the tumor has grown, although localized, and no metastasis noted. He has just started chemo in an effort to shrink "Fred". Gamble will continue chemo for 2-4 months, at which point doctors are hopeful "Fred" will be at an operable size.

He is no longer able to attend school, play hockey, or do any of the winter and soon to be spring activities he loves. He misses his team and his classmates greatly.

Together, as a family, the Fletchers are facing this challenge head-on with strength and positivity. Taking life as it comes, controlling what they can and giving the rest to God with faith and confidence.

Gamble will overcome this, we have no doubts about that. He’s a fighter and we will continue to fight for him. We appreciate all the kindness, prayer chains, love and support he’s received. We ask that you continue to keep him in your prayers and send him all the love, positive vibes, and thoughts you have to offer.
