Hey everyone,
I’m asking for any help I can get to support my sweet mare, Gala, as she battles EPM (Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis) — a serious disease caused by a parasite often spread through opossum urine. Even though our horses are on preventative treatments, Gala has unfortunately started showing symptoms and is now in active treatment.
EPM attacks the nervous system, making it hard for horses to walk, eat, drink, or even stand. It’s heartbreaking to watch, but we’re doing everything we can to help her recover. Gala is currently under the care of Dr. Perez at Piedmont Veterinary Services in Monroe, Georgia, and is on multiple medications. She’ll need ongoing treatment for the next 2–3 months, along with regular vet visits and bloodwork.
The costs are adding up quickly — between vet bills, medications, and round-the-clock care — and we would be so grateful for any help, big or small. Gala means the world to me; she’s my heart and has taught me so much. Seeing her fight through this has been incredibly hard, but we’re staying positive and taking it one day at a time. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love Gala. I would appreciate any help!
Thank you all so much for your love, prayers, and support. ❤️
