Support Galapagos Tortoise Conservation
Donation protected
We are going to visit the Galapagos Islands in June and we are raising funds for the Galapagos Tortoise Movement Ecology Program. All donations will go directly to this program.
Our goal is to support the Galapagos National Park (GNP) to conserve giant Galapagos tortoises. The Galapagos islands are focusing on becoming more self-sustaining and local farmers are increasing the size of their farms, this is encroaching on the natural migration patterns of the tortoises. The GNP is working with the farmers to find a mutually beneficial solution for the farmers need to increase local crops as well as to protect the natural migration patterns of the tortoises.
Your donation will help implement this research, and bring programs into schools in the Galapagos Islands to inspire a greater interest in nature, science and conservation actions around these majestic creatures.
We will spend a day with the GNP, chipping tortoises with local school children who will carry forward on our project of following and studying the migration of the tortoises. This information will be invaluable in the conservation efforts to ensure an appropriate and sustaining program can be implemented for the tortoise conservation and the farmers.
