Meet Gaja

Gaja is our sweet 11-year-old pit bull with the kindest heart and the most soulful eyes. Her life did not start easy. She spent her first year at the Humane Society, waiting for someone to see her for the gentle, loving soul she truly is. When she was finally rescued by her mom, everything changed. She found her forever home.

From that day forward, Gaja became the definition of love and gratitude. She adores people, tries to make boyfriends out of every man she sees, and has a special talent for wrapping herself in a blanket like a burrito and snuggling for hours. She fills our lives with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love every single day.

Gaja’s Diagnosis

Recently, Gaja was diagnosed with Stage 3 B-cell lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects certain white blood cells called lymphocytes. This cancer can involve the lymph nodes, spleen, liver, or other organs. The good news is that B-cell lymphoma tends to respond better to chemotherapy than some other types, and many dogs achieve remission with the right care.

Gaja is being treated at Missouri Animal Cancer Care, located in Wentzville, Missouri, under the care of Dr. S. Bevin Rippy, a Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologist. Her treatment plan includes weekly chemotherapy sessions for 20 weeks, along with regular checkups and lab work to monitor her progress. Her doctors are optimistic that with treatment, Gaja can go into remission and continue living her happy, comfortable life surrounded by those who love her most.

The Cost of Her Care

The total cost of Gaja’s chemotherapy, lab work, and follow-up care is $11,000. We are doing everything we can to cover her treatment, but we need help to give her the best possible chance at recovery.
