Gail, my lovely wife of 13 years, who (as we say in Aggieland BTHO cancer four times) is a four time cancer survivor, having overcome breast cancer, cervical cancer and leukemia in the early 2000’s. In 2022, she beat cancer for a fourth time, this time kidney cancer, but recovered successfully.

Unfortunately, Gail suffered a traumatic fall in our rural home last week which resulted in her breaking her left femur in multiple places. She was taken to the nearest emergency room, over an hour away, which could properly treat her. It was determined that she would need to have a titanium rod inserted to heal the broken bone. Her surgery was a success, but she has a long road to recovery ahead of her.

As of today, she is receiving inpatient care, with an undetermined discharge date. Eventually, she will be discharged and transferred to a rehab facility. Unfortunately, the facility is already wanting patient payment upfront. On a high school teacher’s salary, we cannot afford the full amount up front. In speaking to them, I provided the amount I can afford upfront and I was told that it would be reviewed and a response would be given.
