On April 12, 2024, our world turned upside down. My mom, Gail, went in for a routine ultrasound that revealed a cyst on her ovary. Just two hours later, she was unexpectedly laid off from her job. In the span of a single day, everything changed for our family.
When doctors operated to remove the cyst, they discovered devastating news—it wasn’t benign. Gail was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer, and it was already spreading. She immediately began aggressive oncology care through UCHealth, undergoing major surgery to remove two tumors the size of grapefruits, along with a total hysterectomy.
Despite this life-altering diagnosis, Gail has faced every challenge with courage, hope, and an unshakable commitment to living fully. She incorporates holistic healing practices such as organic nutrition, meditation, Reiki, therapy, and exercise—all while maintaining her characteristic positivity.
Then, in February 2025, we received even more heartbreaking news. The cancer had spread to her liver and bowel, adding yet another layer of complexity to her battle. Additional surgery revealed inoperable tumors, making the next steps in her treatment even more critical. Chemotherapy, along with a potential clinical trial in Utah, offers the best hope for her recovery.
As Gail focuses on healing, she is unable to work for the foreseeable future. While she has health insurance, it only covers a fraction of the overwhelming costs. Unexpected medical bills, holistic treatments, travel expenses, supplements, and daily living costs have quickly added up, leaving her in urgent need of financial support. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward easing this burden—ensuring Gail can concentrate on what matters most: her health and healing.
Asking for help isn’t easy, but we’re leaning on the kindness of friends, family, and our community to walk with us in this journey. Your generosity will make a profound difference in my mom’s care and our family’s well-being. Whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply a message of encouragement, we are endlessly grateful for any support you can offer.
Thank you for standing with us in this fight. Your love and generosity mean the world to us. We truly couldn’t do this without you.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kate Palmer
