Support Gail Quinn's Battle with ALS
Donation protected
After spending over a year seeing several different doctors and having a surgery to correct what was thought to be cord compression from bulging discs, our mom, Gail Quinn, has been diagnosed with ALS, also commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a rare, progressive, and terminal neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. This leads to muscle weakness and paralysis, and eventual respiratory failure.
There is currently no cure for ALS.
Over the last 18 months, Mom has continued to rapidly decline. She needs assistance doing everything. She is unable to stand or walk. Mom no longer has use of her right arm and limited use of her left. Her body is failing her. Mom relies on others for everything. This is unimaginable cruelty for someone who has been so active for all of her life. Mom always enjoyed going for long walks with the family dog through our neighborhood, always stopping to catch up with neighbors. She also had a passion for creating amazing craft projects and sharing them with friends and family throughout the holidays. Mom has been married to our father for 61 years and has raised three children and now has three grandchildren. She drove a school bus for over 25 years for the Ocean Township Board of Education. Mom was known as "Miss Gail" to all of the wonderful students that she drove. She's touched the lives of so many.
Unfortunately now, Mom is bound to sitting in a chair.
We are absolutely devastated by this diagnosis and the rapid decline in Mom's health. We are asking our friends and community to help reduce the massive expenses that are related to her care. We would be extremely appreciative of any relief during this extremely challenging time.
Thank you all so much,
The Quinn Family
