Latest update (as of 8/14/24)

I've been staying with a friend of mine in Texas, but I have 18 days before my flight back to Omaha and still have $1500 to raise. That's going to cover the moving truck, my first month's rent, and just enough to cover renter's insurance, getting my internet and all that set up, and some bare essentials for the first few weeks while I get settled in and find a job.

The moving truck is not just a way for me to get my stuff from my old place; it's also my transportation to Minneapolis. I don't have a car, and if I don't have my things out of where I used to live by the end of September, then it's lost to me forever. A friend of mine is still in contact with my old housesmates, and the people I once called friends are fully prepared to donate and throw out my stuff--a lifetime of memories gone, my clothes and books gone, my viola that I've had since high school gone.

With only two and a half weeks left before the move, I'm getting desperate to figure out the last of my funding, so anything you can spare is appreciated. Thank you!

Update to my situation:

Thanks to the generosity of those who shared and donated, I've been able to secure an apartment and have been staying in an AirBnB (which was cheaper than doing an extended stay motel). But I've hit another snag, which is that I can't move into the new apartment until September 1st. It's in Minneapolis, and I'm in Omaha, which means finding a job in my new city isn't possible, and remote work has been really hard to find.

As much as I hated to do it, I've increased my goal to $5,000 because I have about a month and a half before I can move to my new place, and I need to be able to afford to live somewhere until then. Any amount helps, as does sharing this GFM with your friends and followers. I hadn't expected to be stuck between a rock and a hard place for this long, but I am so grateful to everyone who's helped me stay off the streets.

My name is Gabriel Hargrave. I'm a 38-year-old trans man whose life is currently in flux. I'm trying to find a new place to live while also looking for a new job, but in the meantime, I have bills piling up and could really use the help. I think I'm going to end up on the street because I'm supposed to be out of here by June 30th, and I still have not found a solution. All I need is enough to pay bills and some money to live on while I find a job and continue my search for housing.
