After months of illness, doctors, and emergency room visits, my son Gabriel was diagnosed with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) in October 2024. FAP is a rare genetic condition that comes with a 100% chance of developing cancer, so Gabriel was told he would need to have his colon removed. Before he could have the surgery, we learned that he already had colorectal cancer. Gabriel bravely went through eight rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, all while trying to manage the emotional and financial toll this diagnosis brought to our family.
He was scheduled to have the surgery in April, but recent tests showed that he has nodules on his lungs that have increased in size. A blood test revealed that cancer is still present in his body, and the tumor has returned at a T3 stage, which means it has grown significantly. The cancer board met and decided that Gabriel needs to have the lung nodules biopsied and will require another four rounds of chemotherapy. This means he will need to have a port inserted again to deliver the medications, and all of this will require more time off work.
Gabriel is still trying to recover financially from having to take unpaid time off during his last round of chemo and radiation. Now, with more treatments and procedures ahead, he will need to take even more time away from work. The funds raised will help cover living expenses and ease the financial burden so Gabriel can focus on healing. We will keep everyone updated on his progress as the tests and treatments continue. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Gabriel’s journey. Any support—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser—means the world to us. Your kindness will help Gabriel focus on healing without the added stress of financial worries. We are deeply grateful for any help you can give.
