Support Gabrielle & Paul's Family in Their Time of Need

On March 10, 2024 my sister-in-law, Gabrielle, went into labor at only 26 weeks pregnant with her twin boys. Thomas and Beau came into this world 3 months early weighing in at only 1lb 15oz and 1lb 14oz via an emergency c-section. The boys were considered micro preemies, a term reserved for babies born less than 1 pound 12 ounces or before 26 weeks gestation. Gabrielle and my brother, Paul, were now new parents about to face the unimaginable.
Two days later, they had to do what no parent wants to even imagine and say goodbye one of their sons, their beautiful baby Beau who had uncontrollable hemorrhaging of the lungs. They lost their son and Thomas and my niece, Harley, lost their brother.
For months they have been balancing caring for Thomas in the hospital at Loyola, living out of the Ronald McDonald House and their 3-year-old daughter at home. All while Paul goes to work at a relatively new job position to continue to provide for his family and stay afloat with all the everyday living expenses and newly acquired medical bills
Not only this but there were additional costs due to Paul switching to a new company mid-pregnancy to further his career which led to having to switch insurance companies and meet all the deductibles/max out-of-pockets all over again.
Morris hospital was their primary hospital, but with the babies coming so early & them being twins, Morris wasn’t capable of treating them so they were transported to Loyola where they would get the best care at a level 3 NICU. Loyola was over an hour away from home (Gabrielle drove there daily) and Paul’s office was also over an hour from home, one week of gas was costing them $600 if not more. It seemed like they could never catch a break.
Baby Thomas has been so strong since day one (I believe his brother came to him to help fight) and he continues to grow stronger every day, but sadly his stay and need for medical care isn’t over yet.
While we cannot lessen the stress and emotional journey their family continues to navigate, we are hoping you will join us in raising funds to help ease a little piece of the financial burden that has blanketed them.
They face significantly higher expenses than those generally associated with having a baby. There is and will continue to be substantial medical bills, various medication costs, unique preemie formula, medical equipment such as heart rate/oxygen monitoring devices, weekly Loyola visits and other drs visits requiring a-lot of travel, occupational & physical therapy equipment and specialized equipment not covered under insurance but greatly benefits his progress and can help minimize his length on oxygen.
They have been through so much and I can not imagine the grief of losing their son yet joy of their other son coming home. They are some of the strongest parents I know and they deserve all the help they can get. There pride is too strong to ask for help so I’m making this GoFund me in hopes of helping their lives if not just a little to get through these dark, scary times. Thank you everyone in advance.
