Our beautiful Gabee needs a kidney transplant, and we’re raising funds to help cover the cost of her medical care, surgery, and recovery. Every donation brings her one step closer to the treatment she needs to live a healthier, longer life. If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing this page to help us reach as many people as possible. Your support means everything to us.

Gabee’s Story:
As parents, in 2008, we were devastated after the initial diagnosis of our beautiful daughter, Gabriella Elizabeth-Rae Perlis. At the tender age of 12, she was in end-stage renal failure; her only option for life was transplantation. As we dealt with all the unknowns and the feelings that overwhelmed us, we prayed. With God directing our life, we found ourselves blessed as her father was a perfect candidate. In March of 2009, she was successfully transplanted.

We were relieved as the doctors gave us the news, but we were cautioned. The doctors explained that this kidney would only last for a while. The changes her body needed to grow as a woman would significantly impact its longevity, giving it a lifespan of 15-20 years. Again blessed by God, her kidney had lasted 18 years in a well-functioning state. The last 4 years is when the problems began. The initial symptoms began subtly: a few extra trips to the ER, constant fluctuations in medications, and some different medical procedures.

In the post-transplant life that she had been given, it was initially quite challenging. Gabriella spent most of her youth being home-schooled with very little access to a mainstream childhood. As she aged and healed, she began to integrate into our local schools. Although unable to compete in any high school sports or any physical activities, she excelled at all that she did.

Gabriella, with her love of God, determination, and love of life, decided to attend Florida State University and shortly thereafter graduated with a B.S. in Humanities and Honors. Within a few short months, she began working for the State of Florida.

As a parent, it’s easy to brag about your own child because we believe they are that magical. Our children are our gift from God!

In the case of our daughter Gabriella, words cannot describe the love she holds, the compassion she carries with her, and the willingness to give all she has and more to anyone in need. She is probably the nicest person you could ever meet, never knowing a stranger, only a friend.

Gabee has been employed with the State of Florida for 7 years. She began working with children’s disabilities, helping young kids go through the processes that she was familiar with and giving them guidance. As her career was getting stronger, her body was becoming weaker; she was going back into kidney failure. Knowing this and the stress of working with the children’s disability unit, she transferred to the Department of Transportation, still within the State of Florida.

The doctor's trips became more frequent, and the pain became worse. The bouts of daily sickness and the fatigue started multiplying, now including trips to the transplant center in Tampa for debilitating medications and days-long stays in the hospital. Gabriella’s kidney function began to decrease very rapidly. After her fourth hospital trip to Tampa, they were giving her incredibly large amounts of medication in short periods of time. The side effects were horrific. She was told the medication would save her kidney for a short time longer but would also destroy her body. Crying softly, quietly, and without complaint, she dealt with it, and when she was released, she went back to work.

Gabriella is now borderline stage 5 kidney failure with a GFR of 16. She is on the transplant list, but God willing, one of her three sisters will match, and yes, we pray.

Even as Gabee is in renal failure, she continues to work. She, in all her suffering, is still this strong beacon of light, giving all her love, compassion, and self. She brings laughter, smiles, joy, happiness, humility, and kindness. She will still give everything she can and everything she has left to help anyone that is in need. Gabee... she just loves.

We are here asking anyone who can afford to donate to Gabriella’s cause to donate, please. All proceeds will go to help Gabriella and the families involved with the transplant as the expenses before, during, and after are quite extensive.

May God bless you and your loved ones.
