Help Save Pepper: Our Beloved Pitbull Mastiff

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart to ask for your help in saving our beloved dog, Pepper. Pepper is a 2-year-old Pitbull Mastiff who usually weighs a healthy 85 pounds. However, over the past two weeks, her health has taken a drastic turn, and she is now in the low 60s.

Recently, tests revealed that Pepper has a foreign body stuck in her small intestine, which requires urgent surgery. The surgery will also involve removing a part of her small intestine. The estimated cost for this surgery is between $7,000 and $10,000.

It all started two weeks ago when Pepper suddenly became very ill. On Monday, June 24th, we took her to Northfield Veterinary Care for an X-ray, suspecting a possible foreign body. Unfortunately, the X-ray didn’t provide any answers. We moved forward with IV fluids and medication, hoping it would help. She was sent home with anti-nausea medication and instructions to return if she vomited.

Pepper showed signs of improvement, eating small amounts of boiled chicken and drinking water. But this morning, Friday, June 28th, she took a severe turn for the worse. Her nose was as dry as sandpaper, she could barely walk, and she had bloody, mucus-filled stool. She started vomiting again and was extremely weak.

Pepper is not just a pet; she’s the life of our household. She loves playing with her friends at Shore K9 during the week and is always up for a cuddle. We are devastated and deeply worried about her condition. The vet mentioned that she is heading towards “another level of sickness,” and we are doing everything we can to save her.

As a college student at Stockton, living with my boyfriend, the vet bills are overwhelming. So far, the expenses have been:

- $957.94 at Northfield Veterinary Care on June 24th

- Estimated $1,153.91 for today's visit

- $8,000 - $10,000 for the surgery and hospital stay
